Interior Painting - How to Use Masking Tape to Improve ResultsWhen it comes to Richmond interior painting the task can seem to be a bit overwhelming. Depending on your current understanding of how painting works, you might be able to achieve decent results. If you are looking for professional results without the price that comes with the job the following article can provide you with some great tips on having any project look like a professional did it. Richmond interior house painting can be a tough task, and it goes beyond simply spreading paint on the wall. The lines that are displayed with the colors, as well as even trim is important for the overall appearance of the home. Before you begin, you will need to determine they color scheme for your walls. It is important to make sure the trim is a slightly different color at a minimum from the walls color to help the work stand out. At this point you are ready to begin setting the walls up. You will want to use masking tape to cover the trim so it doesn't get the other paint color on it. You will want to only cover up to the edge of the trimming though, by doing this you allow yourself some time saving techniques you may find beneficial. Outside of the trim, you will want to cover the baseboards as well. This allows the perfect paint job to appear during your interior painting. This entire process will cost you less than twenty dollars and can save you hours of work, as the area by the trim and baseboard can be the most complicated to paint and have looking good. Applying the tape can be a simple task as well. Begin in a corner and work directly to the next corner. You should plan on keeping around eight inches of tape in front of the tape you are putting down to ensure it doesn't pull on what is already down. Along the upper edge of the trim keep pushing down the tape until you reach the corner. You'll notice there is still tape that needs to be pressed down. Gently wrap the rest of the tape down onto the front of the trim to ensure that no splatter gets on them. Next, you will need to prevent bleeding from happening. With a putty knife or other straight edge alone the crease between the trim and the wall. This will help push the tape close enough to the wall that nothing can sneak through and provides a better seal. In corners be sure to add additional tape to help prevent any breaks between the strips. This is essential for the perfect appearance in interior painting. Once the tape is removed you will have perfectly solid edges that look very professional and people will take notice. This is the same technique the painters use to make their money, but you can do it simply with a little work on your part. Using this technique, you didn't need to go in with a brush and paint along the trim carefully. Doing it the old-fashioned way took time. Paint sometimes still got on the trim and had to be cleaned up quickly. All that time is saved with this technique, which allows you to simply paint and go and have near perfect edging. Another benefit of the tape is that you don't have to worry about paint splatter getting all over the trim. Often when you are painting, there will be more on the paint brush than you need and it will drip off. While a mat will protect the floor, without masking tape on the trim the splatter will get on it and you will need to clean it quickly otherwise, the paint will set and there will be additional time consumed. Before you go out and buy the masking tape for your next job, you'll need to know something very important. Standard white masking tape isn't designed to be put on walls. The adhesive on it can result in the trim having its paint job damaged. Instead, you should use blue painter's masking tape to apply to these areas. It is gentle enough on the walls to prevent damage. In no time your interior painting job will be done, but don't remove your tape too fast. Allow the paint to dry at least overnight to prevent anything settling to dribble onto the trim. In the morning as you remove the tape you will be very impressed with the job you did with your interior house painting.
